Sunday March 7th, a momentous day in history.... I actually did some proper walking! Yes I forced my feet into those new boots and away we went. This is not actually the first time I have walked before, nor the first time I have worn my boots, i did give them a small trial the day after purchase when I did some plumbing (yea i was checking they were water proof), however this is the first time I went out for a walk in the country with them on.
I was accompanied by Rob, one of my fellow team members, and for the record the one who "inspired" me to do this and his wife Andrea. We didn't actually go too far, around 1 1/2 hours gentle stroll, but it was a good start for my feet to get to know the boots, and with no ill effects afterwards. I do have to say that Andrea appears much more able to tackle this challenge than myself or Rob. The final leg was back up Gorsey Brow, which is quite a steep hill, and while me and Rob gently made are way up it, Andrea was already at the top!
So i feel better for starting, and will now consider, weather permitting of course, do a small walk at night, on the days I don't go to the gym. This morning was a gym day, where I found that some of my muscles were rather tight, but I think this had more to do with the gardening on Sunday afternoon than the walking.
So medical bit's done, sponsorship started, training started, job done isn't it !
"Gorsey Brow" a reasonable hill.
